The Train (1885)âAustin
By the time they reached Medora late the next afternoon, Ensley was nodding off in the saddle. If Austin didnât find a place for her to sleep in the next few minutes, sheâd fall off her horse and land on the muddy ground. Even if he had to buy a house in Medora to use just for the night, he would find her an un-infested bed and a clean bathtub.
Watching her head bob when she jerked awake, he marveled at the small bundle of flesh and bones and muscles that made her a warrior woman. She was strong in all the right places. Soft in all the important places. And hotter than hell in all the desirable places. And he hadnât been this hot for a woman sinceâ¦wellâ¦he couldnât remember when.
Ensley was different, and his interest in her surprised the hell out of him. She wasnât his type. He went for model-gorgeous women with big boobs and full lips, and Ensley was more like some of his auntsâsmall and slight but muscular, intelligent, beautiful, courageous, and funny. The type of woman you married. Not the kind you screwed for a few weeks and then moved on.
Remy caught him staring at her yesterday and gave him a look that said, âWatch your ass, man.â And he knew what Remy meant. She was a five-foot-two ballbuster who could ride a bronc and wouldnât put up with any of his shit.
When she was in his arms the morning after the fight with the bear, heâd been afraid sheâd notice his hard-on and move away from him, but she never did. He didnât know what that meant and damned if heâd ask Remy. Maybe she didnât notice, but he wasnât a small guy. How could she not?
Hell, sheâd almost been killed by a bear, and then Remy drugged her, so his wood was probably the last thing she would have noticed.
He tried to redirect his man-brain to focus on protecting her, not on screwing her. But watching her ass move in the saddle just fed his fantasies further. His uncles often said he learned his raunchy, free-wheeling attitudes about women and sex from Uncle Rick, and maybe he did, or at least the way Rick was before he settled down with Penny. Austin never thought Rick would ever be satisfied with just one woman, but man, he was head over heels in love and about to have two more kids.
âHey, asshole!â Remy shouted, pointing at his own eyes with two fingers, telling Austin to look at him, not at her ass. âWe should go to the depot first and check the train schedule.â
Austin studied the three hundred feet of the trestle that crossed the river into town. âIs that the only way across?â
âYeah, itâs safe enoughâ¦as long as a train doesnât come along,â Ensley said.
Remy pulled up his horse and shaded his eyes with his hand. âIt could get tight up there if one comes barreling along, but itâs easy to see a quarter-mile in both directions, so weâd have enough time to get the hell out of there.
